Grade 11 students have begun to embark upon the interesting study of evolution; from a scientific stand point. It is an interesting area of study which is relevant to all students. We begin looking at the revolutionary ideas of Charles Darwin and the way in which the continued study of evolution has altered our modern-day understanding of the mechanisms responsible for the ever-changing life forms we have on our planet.
Power points have been provided for this unit; students are responsible for printing them, reviewing them, and engaging in classroom discussion as I elaborate on the information provided. Students have also been highly recommended to supplement these power points with readings from the textbook. This will give them a wonderful opportunity to experience the expectations that will be placed on them when they pursue post-secondary; lecture supplemented with independent work.
Additional assistance is always available; students need only ask or attend the informal bio help sessions provided each Thursday at lunch in our classroom.
